Play with some stuff, make a mess, and create some art with me
As an artist I span a wide range of mediums and processes within my work. Combining 2d and 3d elements my work takes over the space no matter how big or small, and pushes the viewer to reflect on their own experiences and relationships to the subject matter and setting. Like my teaching, my work offers the viewer an opportunity to feel a connection to a wide range of communities of which I am a part as an adopted, neurodivergent, queer, female. Identities that I once felt I couldn't always have on display, and still struggle to be always wearing with pride. My work shows you the power that our environments have on who we are and the comfort or discomfort we feel in those identities, and the power we have to create the world we want.
I have been assisting teaching or teaching art in some capacity since I was 15 years old. With every new experience I gained a wide range of knowledge and experiences to guide me in creating the art classroom that I have today. One that will continue to grow and adapt to the ever evolving needs of my students. I create a classroom that is not afraid of failure, that embraces unique thinking, and fosters a positive sense of self. All the while, students are also learning some pretty great art skills.
Silver Studios will be a studio dedicated to not only building the creativity of all the young artists that join us, but their confidence, sense of self, and a collective commitment to bettering ourselves and our communities.
